State of Social is a place to learn, connect, and exchange ideas with people from across the digital and social industry. What makes the event special is the community around it. State of Social is committed to creating an environment where everyone feels safe, respected, and welcome.
Applies to every edition
Our commitment
State of Social welcomes attendees of all backgrounds and identities. This includes, but is not limited to, differences in ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, politics, or personal preferences. Discrimination, harassment, or any form of exclusionary behaviour is not tolerated.
Expected behaviour
All attendees, speakers, sponsors, staff, and partners are expected to:
- Treat others with respect and consideration
- Engage in professional, courteous, and inclusive behaviour
- Be mindful of personal boundaries and shared spaces
- Follow all venue rules and event instructions
Unacceptable behaviour
Unacceptable behaviour includes, but is not limited to:
- Discriminatory, offensive, or demeaning language or behaviour
- Harassment, intimidation, bullying, or threats
- Unwanted physical contact or sexual attention
- Disruptive, aggressive, or unsafe conduct
- Behaviour that interferes with the experience or safety of others
Reporting an issue
If you experience or witness behaviour that breaches this code of conduct, or if you see someone in distress, please notify a member of the State of Social team or Optus Stadium staff as soon as possible.
What happens next
- Your report is handled discreetly and respectfully.*
- It stays confidential wherever possible.
- Details are only shared if venue security or emergency services need to be involved.
Consequences of breach
State of Social reserves the right to take appropriate action in response to breaches of this code of conduct. This may include:
- A verbal warning
- Removal from the event without refund
- Exclusion from future State of Social events
- Referral to venue security or relevant authorities
All decisions regarding enforcement of this code of conduct are made at the discretion of State of Social representatives and are final.
Health & safety
All attendees are asked to act responsibly and consider the wellbeing of others. If you are feeling unwell, please do not attend the event. State of Social may implement reasonable health and safety measures in line with venue requirements or public guidance at the time of the event.
Agreement
By purchasing a ticket and attending State of Social, you agree to comply with this code of conduct. Failure to do so may result in removal from the event without refund.
State of Social reserves the right to amend this code of conduct at any time.
*All reports will remain completely confidential. However, if the State of Social or Optus Stadium teams have to involve third parties (e.g. the police), your details may have to be shared. This policy is based on several other policies, including Google events anti-harassment policy, PyCon 2013 Code of Conduct, and Yxyy Community Code of Conduct.
